Jewellery Qualifications And Apprenticeships Update
City and Guilds have notified the Council that they will no longer be offering the following NVQs:
Q1028086 – Jewellery and Silversmithing Level 1 Q1028087 – Jewellery and Silversmithing Level 2 Q1028088 – Jewellery and Silversmithing Level 3
Our Sector Skills Council, SEMTA has prepared new National Occupational Standards for jewellery and silversmithing and they have just been accepted into the QCA National Qualifications Framework under the following reference numbers:
PO01544A National Occupational Standards PO01541A Qualifications Structure PO01542A Assessment Strategy PO01543A Key and Core Skills Signposting
JAITC is looking for a new awarding body to develop a suite of NVQs based on these occupational standards.
Until this is achieved it will not be possible for trainees to register for NVQs or for a Modern Apprenticeship in Jewellery and Silversmithing.
Candidates who wish to undertake an alternative training course should speak to their local college about what is available. A list of colleges offering jewellery and silversmithing course can be obtained from this office.
JAITC will issue further advice and information as soon as this situation can be resolved.
